About LEARN: Learning Education And Research Network
The purpose of LEARN (Learning Education And Research Network) is to provide a way to link the many people who are interested in improving education by applying scientific research on learning, and in advancing theories of learning by testing their real-world implications. LEARN especially focuses on online education that can support or be blended with existing educational contexts. When the website launches completely (in the coming months) it will provide several resources.
There will be a knowledge base of content and hyperlinks: to excellent examples of educational practice, proven scientific research, ed-tech and e-learning websites and providers, high-quality technology for e-learning and designing online instruction, print and electronic media publications to follow and write for, information on state and federal resources, content about business models and corporate uses of e-learning, and custom search engines that target websites especially relevant to each of these topics. There is so much good content on the internet, and aggregating and organizing it is a challenge the LEARN website takes on. In that spirit, LEARN will also link to other sites that act as aggregators.
The goal is to be a website that is useful for learners, educators, researchers, journalists, and corporations, allowing people from each of these areas to be connected by LEARN's focus on bringing together research and practice. LEARN will also provide several mailing lists that serve to inform people about resources and topics of interest, allow subscribers to ask each other questions to draw on collective knowledge, and to actively link people who have complementary interests but come from different areas. To have the option to subscribe to these lists (and learn when LEARN comes online) sign up to join LEARN.
